Come Together in Yellow for World Mental Health Day – 10th October 2024
Posted by Spotty Otter on 5th Sep 2024
This week on 10th October 2024, we have the chance to make a powerful statement. Across the UK, thousands of people will be wearing yellow to support young people’s mental health as part of World Mental Health Day. The amazing charity YoungMinds UK, the leading mental health charity for young people, is encouraging everyone to get involved in their #HelloYellow campaign to show young people that they’re never alone in their mental health journey.
Why Wear Yellow?
Yellow isn’t just a bright and cheerful colour—it symbolizes happiness, hope, and optimism. By wearing yellow tomorrow, you’ll be sending a message of support, love, and understanding to young people who may be struggling with their mental health. It’s a small but meaningful gesture that says: "We see you. We’re here for you."
What Is YoungMinds?
YoungMinds UK is a charity dedicated to ensuring that every young person gets the mental health support they need, when they need it. From offering resources for parents and schools to providing crucial support directly to young people, their work is helping create a future where mental health is a priority for all.
ow Can You Get Involved?
- Wear Yellow: It’s as simple as putting on something yellow tomorrow! Whether it’s a scarf, a T-shirt, or even a pair of socks, any pop of yellow will do.
- Raise Awareness: Share a photo of yourself in your yellow on social media using the hashtags #HelloYellow and #WorldMentalHealthDay. Tag @youngmindsuk and spread the word to help raise awareness about the importance of mental health for young people.
- Donate: If you’re able, consider donating to YoungMinds UK. Even a small amount can make a big difference in helping the charity continue its work supporting young people in need.
Why It Matters
Mental health challenges can be isolating, especially for young people. By participating in the Hello Yellow campaign, you’re helping to break the stigma around mental health and showing young people that they’re not alone. Every act of kindness, every yellow outfit, and every donation counts toward creating a world where young people feel supported and valued.
So, tomorrow, let’s come together in yellow and make a difference. Let’s stand in solidarity with young people across the UK and show them they are not alone in their mental health journey. ?
