World Book Day is here, and we’re celebrating with stories, adventures, and a little outdoor magic! 

There’s nothing better than getting lost in a great book—except maybe reading it outside, surrounded by nature! 

Books transport us to new worlds, introduce us to incredible characters, and spark our imaginations. So, why not take that sense of adventure beyond the pages? This year, we challenge you to take your favourite book on an outdoor adventure! 

Grab a blanket, find a cosy spot—maybe under a big tree, beside a bubbling stream, or even in a homemade den—and enjoy story time in the great outdoors. After all, every book is its own adventure—so why not bring it to life? 

Take Your Story Outside!

Reading outside adds a whole new level of adventure to story time. Here are some fun ways to make it extra special:

Find the perfect reading nook – Under a big tree, in a field of wildflowers, by a pond, or even inside a den made of sticks!

Act it out! – If you’re reading an otter book, pretend to be otters splashing and playing! If it’s a jungle adventure, imagine spotting animals in the trees!
Pack some bookish snacks – Warm hot chocolate and biscuits make every story even better. Bonus points if they match the theme of your book! 
Enjoy a sunrise or sunset read – The golden light makes story time feel extra magical, especially when paired with a cosy blanket.
Turn the story into a scavenger hunt – Can you find something in nature that reminds you of what you’re reading? A wiggly worm, a feather, or the sound of rustling leaves?
