Our Product Ratings Explained

You might have noticed our product ratings, we wanted an easy way to show you just how warm, breathable and waterproof our different ranges are and what conditions they are best suited for.

Waterproof

Waterproof ratings are measured using a process called a hydrostatic head test. Fabrics are pulled tight under a sealed tube filled with water. The material that is exposed to the fluid is observed for long periods to assess how many millimetres of water it can withstand before it starts soaking through.

Our range of kids waterproof jackets, trousers, splashsuits and dungarees feature waterproof ratings from 8,000mm - 15,000mm.

Considered “Waterproof”. Garment suitable for very light rain and dry snow under very minimal pressure.

Very waterproof. Waterproof and rainproof under medium pressure. Garment suitable for moderate rain and average snow.

Extremely waterproof. Waterproof and rainproof under medium to high pressure. Garment suitable for moderate to heavy rain and average snow

Breathability Explained

Breathability, refers to how well a fabric allows moisture vapor and body heat to pass through it from inside to out. The breathability of our products is determined by a combination of factors, including the type of fabric, its density, and the amount of insulation used. Our range of kids waterproof jackets, trousers, splashsuits and dungarees feature breathability ratings from 0- 20,000g/m²

Garments with breathability ratings in this range are suitable for low-output activities and general use.

Suitable for more active use, including hiking, skiing and mountaineering.
