From the Archives to Adventure: Creating the Print

It started with a question. How do you capture over 80 years of JCB history in something children can wear on a muddy afternoon?
For us, the answer was about more than creating a great looking print. We wanted to celebrate JCB’s incredible heritage while creating something that could spark conversations, stories and memories between generations.
Inspired by the JCB archives, our exclusive print brings together iconic machines from across the decades. Old sits alongside new, giving families something to spot, recognise and talk about.

A grandparent might recognise a machine they worked with years ago. A parent might spot one they remember from their own childhood. A child might simply point and ask, “What’s that one?”
And just like that, a conversation begins.
Stories are shared, memories resurface and a new generation discovers the machines that have been part of family life for decades.
Our designer Ellie explains:
“After analysing the JCB archives, I wanted to showcase JCB’s iconic machines from 1945 to the present day through simple line sketches.
The result is a design that celebrates JCB’s heritage while encouraging conversation across generations as people recognise the machines they remember.”
Look closely and you’ll see machines inspired by different moments in JCB’s history, from the 1970s and 1990s through to more modern designs, all brought together in one playful print.
We hope every family finds something different within it. A favourite machine. A childhood memory. A story worth sharing.
Because this collection is not just about looking back at JCB’s history. It is about inspiring the next generation of little adventurers to make memories of their own.
