Turn our October bucket list into a Half-term adventure
Posted by Spotty Otter on 29th Sep 2026
October half term is the perfect excuse to slow down, pull on the wellies and make the most of everything autumn has to offer. You don’t need a packed diary of expensive days out either, some of the best family adventures can be found in the woods, the garden or even right on your doorstep.
We think our October Bucket List is all the inspiration you need! The beauty of our bucket list is that you don’t have to do everything. Simply choose a few activities for the week, get outside, get creative and let the children tick them off as they go. You could even print out your list and stick it on the fridge, ready for a week of autumn adventures.
So, whether you’re looking for things to do on a rainy afternoon, ways to get the kids outside or simple activities to keep little hands busy, we’ve got plenty of ideas to help you make the most of October half term.

Your October half-term checklist
☐ Go on a fungi spotting walk
☐ Collect conkers
☐ Make a leaf rainbow
☐ Crunch through a leaf pile
☐ Paint leaf ghosts
☐ Make a hedgehog home
☐ Build a scarecrow
☐ Visit a pumpkin patch
☐ Feed the birds
☐ Carve or decorate a pumpkin
We know October half term loves to rain on us all week, we love it when it rains! So grab your waterproofs, pull on those wellies and get outside to make the most of it. There’s something pretty special about splashing in puddles, crunching through leaves and embracing a proper autumn adventure. But, when you’ve had quite enough of the rain (and the wellies are getting a little too soggy!), don’t worry, lots of our activities can be enjoyed indoors too. So head back inside, get cosy and keep the autumn adventures going with some of our creative activities.
